Using GitHub for Education

GitHub is where people build software. The platform hosts code, enables collaboration, and as a teacher, gives you deeper insight into student work. Git is a version control system, which tracks versions of your project over time. As a researcher you can document your process, work with others around data, and help your students build portfolios of work.

If you are new to the world of version control entirely, or want to use GitHub for your course, @mozzadrella from the team will be on campus to deliver our Teacher Training program, called Campus Advisors.

As an attendee, you’ll learn:

* Basics: what makes Git work under the hood

* Individual assignments: using Git and GitHub for solo work

* Student programs: opportunities for students outside the classroom

@mozzadrella is an Instructional Designer with GitHub Education. Before GitHub she worked on learning experiences for littleBits, Mozilla, Scratch and on badges with Peer 2 Peer University. Her master’s is in Technology, Innovation and Education from Harvard, she’s a former Research Intern at the MIT Media Lab.
